CSD Regulation enters into force

Following its publication in the Official Journal on Thursday 28 August 2014, the CSD Regulation (CSDR) officially entered into force on 17 September 2014.  Many provisions, however, will not be implemented until the necessary implementing and delegated acts are adopted.

Industry Workshop on Market Standards

Representatives of industry associations representing banks, issuers and market infrastructures across Europe and forming the European Market Implementation Group (E-MIG) met in Vienna for two days to discuss the state of implementation of the European Market Standards for Corporate actions and General Meetings.

• On Corporate actions, the workshop acknowledged high compliance in the eight major European markets, with system changes at CSDs being a major contributor to progress in implementation;
• On General Meetings, actual progress in implementation was disappointing but the increase in the number of reporting markets showed that awareness was building up in many countries. The development of electronic solutions, especially by CSDs, allowing issuers to easily communication GM information, was identified as a positive driver for change in several European markets.
